CCAC COVID-19 Reopening

Last week the Alberta government began Stage 2 of their COVID-19 relaunch. The Board of Elders have met multiple times to discuss what this means for CCAC. A Reopening Task Force has been formed to think through the many different considerations and decisions that must take place in the coming weeks and months. Please pray for this committee, led by Elder Gordon Kwok, as they begin to consider what needs to be done. The health and safety of our church members is our priority, and we want to take this responsibility very seriously. The church building will continue to remain closed until the Task Force has prepared a reopening plan. Life Groups and smaller fellowship gatherings are allowed to meet together outdoors and in other public or private locations, as long as all Alberta Health Services safety guidelines are observed. Your pastors, elders, deacons and ministry leaders will receive more detailed instructions in the coming weeks. Online worship services will continue until the end of 2020, even as we consider the timeline for relaunching our physical worship gatherings.

Here are some dates that the BOE has set for the coming weeks:

1. Aim for July 5 to have technical aspects ready for broadcasting services from church for all three services (ie: camera, sound system, broadcasting training, etc). Technology Committee and each congregation’s AV team to work on this.

2. Aim for July 19  to have all three congregations broadcasting services live from church.

3. Aim for July 26 to invite a limited number of congregants (ie: 50) to be physically present at church for worship service.

Once again, I want to thank you for your patience and perseverance during this exceptional time of life and ministry. As we go through this whole process of reopening, our greatest hope is in God’s faithfulness and sovereignty. We have already gone through so much uncertainty in the last 3 months, and we will face many more uncertain moments in the future. Through it all, we cling to the hope we have in Jesus Christ, and trust Him to lead us through yet another transition in our lives and for our church. I’m reminded of Psalm 20:7, “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.” Let us look to Jesus for His encouragement, wisdom, and provision always!

If you have any questions regarding the reopening of the church, please contact Elder Gordon Kwok (kwokgordon@gmail.com) or Rev. Jason Fan (Jason.fan@calgarychinesealliance.org).

Please pray for CCAC as we all continue to trust God during this difficult time.
