For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 6:23

Thought

What is it you work for? Is it a pay cheque? A dream? An ideal? Your passions? For your family? Our world advertises the ingenuity of the human spirit. 'You can do it!' 'You can learn it!' 'You can purchase it!'. However, Paul says that the 'wages of sin is death'. All the work we attempt to achieve our dreams, our passions, our security - these result in death, imcompleteness, unfinished, unsatisfactory lives. There is no way we can defend, save, preserve ourselves. Only God can save! The gift of God is real, bountiful life! And the beauty of this gift is that it is found in relationship, in union with Jesus Christ! God has made Christ the centre of our salvation. We need Spirit-Empowerment to trust this, live this and belive this truth. We need the power of the Spirit of God to counter-act a false mission offered by the world, 'You can save yourself and your loved ones...' Let us worship God, and receive and be in deep union with Jesus Christ. In Him we find salvation AND fullest life!

Prayer

Jesus, please forgive me for buying into the world's view that I can purchase salvation for myself, my family, my loved ones. My strength is limited. My mind is limited. My heart is double-minded and not always good. But you alone are good. Jesus, You alone are Saviour, Sanctifier, Healer and Coming King! Accept my worship today and teach me and my loved ones how we might live lives that please you. Amen.

你為甚麽而工作呢？工資？夢想？理想？你所熱愛的？你的家人？我們的世界宣揚人的獨創性。「你做得到！」「你能學會！」「你能買到它！」然而，保羅説:「罪的工價乃是死。」為了試圖實現夢想，達成我們所熱愛的，或達至安全，我們一切所作的，其結果是死亡，殘缺不全，是未完和不充分的生命。我們無法護衛，拯救，保全自己。只有神才能夠拯救！神所賜的是真正，豐盛的生命！這份禮物美麗之處是，我們在與耶穌基督的關係和聯合中，就可找著！神已叫基督成為救恩的中心。我們需要聖靈加力，去倚靠，活出並相信這個真理。世界给予的假使命是:「你能拯救自己和所愛的人...」，我們需要神的靈加力，予以抗衡。讓我們敬拜神，接受耶穌基督，與祂深深地聯合。在祂裏面我們找著救恩和最圓滿的生命！
