Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Matthew 6:11-13
Thought
This part of the Lord's Prayer involves 'asking'. We often ask in our prayer according to our needs -- ask God to show the way ahead, ask for healing, ask for provisions ... It's natural to ask God for what we need. But there are sequence and priorities in prayers: First, we should be clear from whom we ask. Then, we utter for what we ask.
Whenever we pray and ask, we seek first God's kingdom and righteousness. If it is not for the reason of drawing close to God in our prayer, our worries in our heart will come out: what do we lack? what is insufficient? These would become incentives for 'asking'. Thus, we are worried because of our plans and things that are unpredictable.
How does Jesus teach us to ask? "Give us today our daily bread" means that at the beginning of a day we immediately look to God for all the needs of the day. Let's think, shouldn't the person who prays fix his eyes on God first? If he focuses on the needs only, how won't he be worried! Jesus asks his disciples to seek first God's kingdom and righteousness, then these things will naturally be solved easily.

Prayer
We ask the Lord to open our eyes to look at the nature around us and admire all of God's creation. Look at the birds of the air and the flowers of the field. The heavenly Father cares for them. Are we not much more valuable than they! We also ask the Lord to teach us to broaden our mind to include fasting and giving, so as to practise love in godliness.
