September 24th, 2020

I hope to come to you soon, but I am writing these things to you so that, if I delay, you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, a pillar and buttress of the truth.

1 Timothy 3:14-15

Thought

There is a Chinese proverb which talks about an old man who loses his favorite horse. But he answers his neighbors who come to comfort him by saying, “It might not be a bad thing!” (塞翁失馬）I have been greatly encouraged by how the brothers and sisters of Mandarin congregation have responded to COVID-19.The Prayer meeting and Adult Sunday School attendances have grown steadily . More importantly, the small group sharing has grown in transparency and mutual support. Brothers and sisters are caring and praying for each other in new depth and effectiveness. In short, this epidemic has been used by the Lord to teach us how to behave in the household of God.

Prayer

Dear Jesus, your ways are higher than our ways. Only You can turn a tragedy into a triumph. You have been turning this unprecedented burden into an incredible blessing. Thank you so much for the eternal fruits You are bearing through this temporal suffering. May You continue to teach us how to live our Your love in Your household. Amen.

有一個中國諺語說到一位老人失去了心愛的馬匹。但當鄰人前來安慰他時，他竟說:「這或許不是一件壞事呢!」(塞翁失馬)。國語堂的弟兄姊妹對冠狀病毒疫情的反應，叫我大得鼓勵。祈禱會和成人主日學的出席人數穩步增長。更重要的是，弟兄姊妹在小組分享時更顯坦誠，更加相互支持。他們更加彼此關心，又彼此深入代禱，成效顯著。簡而言之，主利用這個疫情教導我們當在神的家中怎樣行。
